Four data sources, one script, one report.
A hospital and community-health project in Central Africa was collecting emergency, paediatric, health-centre and community case-management data in four separate Excel files. Each month, staff rebuilt the same charts by hand for the medical report.
- Standardised the four datasets and built a single R/Quarto pipeline that reads them directly.
- Produced an interactive dashboard for the team and a formatted Word report for the coordination — same figures, no re-typing.
- Field staff now replace the data files and run one script; French labels and the original report structure were kept so nothing had to be relearned.
Four workbooks, manual chart updates each month, figures that differed between the dashboard and the written report.
One command produces the dashboard and the report from the latest data, with the same numbers everywhere and a reproducible audit trail.
